TISCH TRANSFORMATION: Tisch Elevators & Lobby
PROJECT OVERVIEW
NYU Langone Medical Center is upgrading the elevator service in Tisch Hospital by adding a new bank of four elevators that will ease congestion in the main lobby and speed access to the upper floors of the hospital. The four new cars will be housed in an 18-story tower enclosed in glass, which offers elevator passengers views of the courtyard, Medical Center Campus and East River. The tower will be built just outside the building envelope of Tisch Hospital and subsequently connected to the structure at each of the floors. This method of construction will minimize disruption to the hospital, which will remain fully functional throughout the project. The Medical Center will also refurbish Tisch's main lobby and enhance the public spaces on the upper patient floors.
