Real Estate

The Real Estate Division administers the leasing and acquisition of real property, provides portfolio management services, and manages the operations of commercial and residential property for the medical center.  We work with our internal clients and senior leadership to identify and implement real estate solutions that meet the medical center's unique programmatic requirements, minimizing cost, maximizing value, and balancing the other financial, legal, and compliance considerations associated with complex real estate transactions, portfolio management issues, property management, and development strategies.  The division currently oversees approximately 1.5 million square feet of administrative, clinical, and research space and nearly 1,000 units of housing.

While the focus of the division is on the medical center's real estate portfolio of owned and leased properties off the "superblock" - the core of the medical center's campus east of First Avenue between 30th and 34th Streets - the division also provides expertise in the real estate issues affecting the main campus and the campus transformation initiative.  The division also provides analysis and coordinates investigation into such issues as those affecting zoning, title, condemnation, air rights, indentures, easements, and other encumbrances as well as condominium governance and other issues.
